Implied Consent to Participate in a Research Study
The purpose of this research is to understand the benefits of gratitude over time. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. You may choose to participate or not. You may answer only the questions you feel comfortable answering, and you may stop at any time. If you do not wish to participate, you may simply log out with no penalty to yourself. Your identity will never be known to the researcher. Any collected data will be stored in an encrypted document. Demographic information is for the use of reporting in aggregate form only.
This study requires that you have a Facebook account. For each survey you will login using this account. By utilizing this account, it will simplify the login process for later surveys and will enable the researchers to link your survey results together. After clicking the Facebook login button below you will complete a pre-survey consisting of questions designed to provide demographic, personality, and well-being information.
At the end of this survey, please provide an email address that is best to reach you for each nightly survey. It is important that you provide an email address that you will be checking regularly to complete the nightly survey. ou will be asked to complete very brief nightly surveys for two week; each survey is designed to measure your well-being, personality, daily activities, and requires you to list three things you are grateful for. After the intervention we will provide you personalized feedback about how much your gratitude has changed over the last two weeks. The last part of the study will ask you to complete an exit survey. At the end of this study you will be debriefed.
